Random Acts of Kindness

I’m not gonna lie, this week has not been the best. For some reason this week seems to just be kicking everyone’s butt. I know for me I have been bogged down with tests to study for, projects to do, and now work every day this weekend. Not to mention this horrible flu that is now rapidly spreading and I am working very hard to avoid! I don’t know what it is about this week but for me and those around it seems to be against everyone.

After feeling completely defeated and utterly exhausted from this week I came home from work tonight and instantly got a smile on my face reading that today was national random acts of kindness day. If there’s one thing that can turn an awful week around it is seeing a whole bunch of people be nice to one another! I know this happens on the same day every year but it seems like God put this one exactly where a lot of people needed it. It’s really the little things like being nice to a stranger or friend that makes things seem more positive in this crazy life. That being said, here are a few ways that to show someone a random act of kindness:

1. Simply smile and say hello to someone as they pass by. Instead of walking around with your head buried in your phone look up and make someone’s day a little brighter by showing some kindness.

2. Pay for the person behind you at a drive through. I have had this happen to me before and it honestly is one of the best surprises. Usually this will cause a chain reaction of kindness towards random people.

3. Comment on someone’s social media account complimenting them. We all know that social media can be used for evil, so spread some light by sharing kind words to others accounts.

4. Hand out some encouraging cards to people. You never know who could use some spirit lifting so make some little cards to keep with you and hand out to people.

I now challenge you to make someone’s day tomorrow by showing them a random act of kindness! Let’s keep this going longer than just the national day. Tell me how it goes in the comments!! I hope you have a great weekend! Stay positive.

  1. I’ve had someone pay for me through the drive-thru one time, and I was so surprised and happy that I wanted to pass it on to the person behind me. Random acts of kindness go a long way!

  2. Random acts of kindness do go such a long way- and can make someone’s whole day or even week. It affects people more than we know, and it’s so great.
