One of the worst feelings is when you sense a cold or some other illness creeping up on you. I know I used to get sick a lot and it was the worst. For some reason, when I was younger I was very prone to sinus infections and walking pneumonia. I still to this day get ear infections which is something I did not think I would have to keep experiencing past the age of ten. When I get sick I become absolutely helpless. It’s very hard to feel anything other than self pity, and this weekend I came down with quite the cold/sore throat. While I felt miserable at noticed a few things that helped me stay positive. Here are some some ways to keep your spirits up while sick.
1. Rest as much as possible. Sometimes you get sick at just the right time because your body really needs some rest. If you’re overwhelmed or stressed it can easily lead to getting sick so make sure you take enough time to sleep.2. Catch up on your favorite movies and/or shows. There’s not a whole lot to do when sick so take advantage of this time and binge on some shows or movies. It will give you something to do and brighten your mood! Plus, Netflix recently added a bunch of really good movies and shows and now you have a good excuse to watch them.
3. Keep your phone nearby at all times. Most likely you won’t be around many people when your sick. Have your phone charged near you in order to keep in touch with the outside world without getting anyone else sick
4. Eat lots of soup & good food and drink a lot of water & juice. Being sick is the perfect time to eat some delicious snacks to keep you happy and full. Drinking lots of fluids will help you get better faster and stop you from being drained. One thing that can really help is to look up drink recipes to soothe sinuses and a sore throat.
The most important thing to remember is that you will get better. Being sick can certainly drag a person down, but it’s a nice time to just take a break. Most of the time you will start to feel better within a few days so stay calm and relax. This past weekend I got to just catch up on some rest and I feel so much better now. Staying optimistic helped my illness go by a lot quicker.
Have a great week!
xx,
Bailey

I agree with you about how sometimes sickness can be just what you need (as weird as that sounds haha). I think sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves and sickness can be our body reminding us how important our health is and that sometimes we just need to relax!
