It’s almost February and here I am just now sitting down to write out some resolutions. 2017 seems to be off to quite an interesting start for most people. I am not usually one to set a whole bunch of resolutions for my self but I figured college would be as good of time as any to start making some positive changes. Other than the usual resolutions of “eat healthy” and “exercise more” I can think of one main resolution: STOP BEING AFRAID. This is one thing that I have struggled with my entire life.
I have always be known as quite the over-worrier. When I was little my mother used to describe me and my sister as “fearful and fearless.” Want to take a guess as to which one I was? The thing makes that even more saddening is that I’m the older sister! For as long as I can remember I have let fear make my decisions for me and cause me to miss out on amazing things. I tend to worry a little to much about what other people will think and that spirals in to a bunch of “what ifs?” and paranoia that gets a bit out of hand. I have been getting better though. I am starting with little everyday day ways to be brave and stepping out of my comfort zone. I tried sushi with actual raw fish on it the other day, and guess what? I actually liked it! There’s a small victory. I’m intentionally trying to be more open with people and just talking to more people in general. I love getting to know people but my fear used to sometimes get in the way of that. Well, not anymore! I am leaving my fears in 2016 in order to become a more positive person.
I can’t wait to see what adventures await this year and I am going to try my hardest not to miss out on any. Life is full of everyday adventures if you’re bold enough to go out and look for them. Although you still won’t catch me alive riding in an elevator; that’s where I cross the line. Hope you all are able to overcome some of your fears in 2017! I believe in you!!
